My hero is my grandpa Glade Nelson. My grandpa is the strongest person I have ever met. He was diagnosed with leukemia, skin cancer, and prostate cancer, and still lived to be eighty years old!
My grandpa was born at his home in Ferron in 1929. He was born a twin but his twin sister died at 18 months old from pneumonia. At the age of 12 years old my great grandpa was drafted into the coal mines and had to leave home, leaving my grandpa to take over the farm.
When my grandpa was young he was riding his horse in Ferron, and was struck by lighting when he was a teenager. It knocked him out and when he woke up he thought his horse was dead so he walked home, then a few hours later the horse came home.
My grandpa loved to tell stories about when he was in World war two over in Japan, where he was a cook for the army when he was sixteen years old. He cooked on the ship and on the base. He said that the ship ride over made him so sick that he couldn’t sleep.
When my grandpa and grandma got married my grandpa had five kids and my grandma had five kids, then they had five kids together equaling fifteen kids to support, but they still got through it. My grandpa now has forty four grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
When my mom was younger, her little brothers went down stairs and started playing with matches. One of my uncles was scared of the match and dropped it, and the carpet lit on fire. He took the baby and hid behind the couch. When everyone else was out of the house my grandpa and grandma went back into the burning house to find my uncles. They were choking on the smoke really bad and couldn’t find them. Then they heard crying coming from downstairs, where the fire was the worst. They ran down there to get the kids from behind the couch. They made it out ok and luckily everyone was out, but they had to rebuild the house.
When my aunt Lisa was a teenager she fell through the cellar roof. After that my grandpa would tell us never to play up there, and then if we would he would tell us the story of her falling through the roof and that would make me really freaked out about the cellar. I thought that if I fell through the roof I would be locked in there and would have to eat bottled peaches until I died.
My grandpa worked as a truck driver hauling coal allover the country. My grandma and grandpa then bought a restaurant above the high school around when I was born. The entire family would help out by coming and working there whenever they were available. They had really good food and it was a second home for everyone. Then they sold it, and it became another restaurant, but it wasn’t as awesome.
After he retired he still worked every day in his wood shop creating and building new things that he would sell, give away as gifts, or just decorate the house with.
When he was around seventy six years old my grandpa’s eyesight started to get really bad and we had to help him with more things. My mom and dad heard about this doctor down in New Mexico that would do an acupuncture on my grandpa’s eyes to make him see better. So my parents drove my grandparents there. He had to get the acupuncture done for a few hours for five days. They came home about a week later, and my grandpa said he had a really good time and could see a lot better.
My grandpa always encouraged me to do my best and to shoot high. When I would get off the bus after school I would walk to his house for a visit and he would ask me how my day was and what I learned in school. He always said an education was important and to use school to the best of my advantage.
My grandpa was like seventy nine he came out and played basketball with me and my cousins. He actually beat us and he shot a three pointer. He then told us a really long story on how he and the people that he was with in the war and how they would play basketball to stay in shape and have fun.My grandpa is my hero, and he will always be inspiration for me throughout my life.

Hercules 13th Labor
Eurystheus commanded Hercules to build a gigantic boat that he could fit ten giants in every room and there must be ten rooms. Eurystheus also said that the boat must be build within three days.
Hercules asked Vulcan to build him a hammer that had the strength to nail a post to the center of the earth with one hit, and four thousand nails. He visited the tree nymphs asking them to spare on thousand trees for the boards of his boat.
He started building the boat working all day and night for tree days. On the third day the boat was finished but he had to go to the land of giants and somehow get one hundred giants to agree to get on his boat.
He climbed a tall wall and spoke out to the giants saying, “Here me giants. I have come to ask one hundred of you to ride on my boat across the river.” The giants did not car to go with him and refused to be crammed onto a boat to ride across a river.
Hercules could see that the giants wouldn’t come so he fetched Apollo to play a lullaby to the giants. Soon the giants fell fast asleep.
Hercules drug one hundred giants to his ship and distributed ten to each room. Eurystheus could see that Hercules had loaded all the giants for he was spying on him in a bush. So he told Neptune the god of the sea to stir the water and send many sea serpents to ruin Hercules boat so he couldn’t make it over the river.
Hercules set sail and saw many whirl pools ahead of him. He turned the great boat and was able to fight the waters. Then he met up with many serpents that where hitting the boat with all there might, rocking the boat. Hercules jumped into the water and slaughtered all the serpents with the mighty blade of his sword.
He climbed a rope back to his ship and with his strength guided it gracefully to the shore. Then the boat started to shake and quiver. The shaking went to such an extreme that the boat started to crack. The Giants busted through the wood, sending Hercules flying through the air, smashing into a rock, making him loose consciousness.
When Hercules awoke, the giants tied him to the rock with many strong ropes. Hercules couldn’t break through the ropes he was too tired from the blow of the rock. Then he looked over to find a flower growing by the rock. He reached for it and plucked it from the stem. He ate the flower and received his full strength as if by magic.
Hercules broke the ropes and returned to Eurystheus. Eurystheus told Hercules that he had failed because he didn’t bring back the giants to show him.

The Creation of Panda Bears
The gods of earth lived on stars, they were called Star Gods. There was one god over every continent. One day the gods got together, bragging about all the animals that fit into there cultures. Though the Asian star god didn’t have an animal to represent his continents cultures. This made the Asian Star God an outcast of the group.
The Asian star god asked the other gods if he could create an animal for is continent. The other gods disagreed and made a rule to keep the Asian god from creating this animal. The rule stated that in order to create a new living organism on earth, the god must sacrifice their selves and give their star unto the earth.
The other gods went about their daily business thinking that the newly forced rule would keep the Asian god from creating an animal. Then the Asian god called out to the others saying, “I have decided to give my continent a new animal, that shall represent their cultures”. Then the god leaped from his star and fell to the blackness, sending his star plummeting towards the earth. The other gods were furious and their anger created gravity, keeping any other gods from creating new life.
When the star hit the earth it shattered into a million tiny pieces, landing on a very large stalk of bamboo growing from the earth. Then the pieces started devouring the stalk at an incredible speed. Soon the stalk was gone. The pieces started to grow and grow, then when the pieces looked as if they would burst they changed. The transformation brought forth a bear that was black and white the bear was called a panda bear.

"I Think Were Hitting the Bone"
My favorite scar is the scar on the bottom right side of my right foot because; it was cut all the way down to my bone!
Last November my parents took a vacation to the Hawaiian Islands, leaving my siblings and I to fend for ourselves, with my cousin Courtney of course. Every day either my sister or I had to stay home from school to watch my little brother. I was home from school, and I was sweeping the floor, when I hit my foot on the side of a board. I just knew I had gotten a sliver because it really hurt, and there was a big bump.
I waited until my older sister got home to help me try to squeeze something out. I had gotten out a little sliver, so I thought that it was all gone.
Within a few months to come the place where I got the sliver had a huge, swollen bump and hurt really badly. I was concerned there was still something in there, so I bugged my mom everyday that it hurt. One morning at 1:30 a.m. I woke up in excruciating pain, my foot felt as if it were on fire! I woke up my parents and my dad tried to squeeze something out, but it hurt so much I woke up the whole house with my screaming. After the painful torture my mother finally took me to the emergency room.
I waited four hours in the smelly waiting room to get in. While waiting a really scary groop of young adult came in and started screaming to someone on the phone about punching a wall.
When I got in I had to get an x-ray, so the doctors could find something. Nothing showed up but we knew something was in there. We took a risk and they gave me a shot, that burnt like they were holding a match to my foot, and started cutting over the bump. After a while of cutting and searching they started to scrape something hard. One doctor said, “I think we are hitting the bone”. The other doctor looked closer then picked up his tweezers. I could feel something being pulled from my flesh, I was ready to scream, “what are you doing, pulling out my bone!”, when the doctor pulled out a bloody chunk.
He rinsed off the chunk to find it was a sliver about one inch long and one centimeter thick, that was sitting right next to my bone. They asked me if I wanted to keep it, I absolutely refused.
They said they weren’t going to stitch it up because they didn’t want to put anymore foreign things in the wound, but in the end they had to because it wouldn’t stop bleeding. I watched them put in the stitch, which was pretty cool, then add some gauss, and wrap it up. Then a nurse came in and gave me some orange juice that was in a yogurt type container. Then i traveled the hour back home and went to bed.
After the hole catastrophe was over I got to walk around school for a month wearing a slipper and a wrap. This concludes the story of my favorite scar.
